Hemmings Collector Car Radio, episode 18: One man’s trek across the U.S., and our own concours d’elegance

John Macartney arrived in the U.S. from his native U.K. a few weeks ago to set off on a transcontinental voyage to raise money for agencies that deal with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. John stopped by Hemmings to talk about the drive, the cause, and the Triumph Stag that he hopes will deliver him in San Luis Obispo, California, for the 2009 Triumphest, scheduled for September 30-October 4.

When the snowflakes rattle against the windowpanes not too long from now, we’ll keep warm by thinking about our the third annual Hemmings New England Concours d’Elegance, held at the Stratton Mountain Resort here in Vermont. Our editor-in-chief, Richard Lentinello, a veteran of more car shows than you can begin to imagine, is the mastermind behind our concours; he joins us to talk about what made the event such a success, how cars are judged, and what differentiates a concours from other car shows, among other subjects.
