For the auction news pages in Classic Car and Sports & Exotic Car, I keep track of hundreds of auction companies. Many of the smaller ones will go years between collector-car listings, but since last month, a bunch of new sales have popped up. Sadly, half-a-dozen of them are estate sales, which are increasingly common as the Greatest Generation of collectors head toward triple digits.

They’re all long past the deadline to put them in print, so here are those I’ve found so far:

Sullivan: Unreserved 3-Day Estate Auction, Ole Bill’s Museum, Liberty, Missouri May 28-30.

The late Don Barnes, along with his wife Eve, owned and operated Ole Bill’s Museum in Liberty, MO and has been collecting for nearly 60 years! This is without a doubt one of the largest collections of cars & parts that you’ll see in one location, and it all sells at absolute auction to the highest bidder. Multiple auction rings throughout all three days-please come prepared with extra bidders. Everything must be settled for in full each day. Buyer registration video taped. Lunch available on grounds. Announcements sale day take precedence. Not responsible for accidents, errors or omissions.

Don had about 13 cars stored indoors, some for upwards of 40 years, plus a big cache of about 150 project/parts cars from outside.

'40 Lincoln Continental convertible

By far the best car in Don’s estate is his V-12 ‘40 Lincoln Continental convertible. It looks like a nearly-finished restoration, complete aside from a top, but dirty. I think it’s actually white.

1924 Franklin coupe, air-cooled straight-six, alloy body, straight and under roof for more than 60 years.

1920 Oldsmobile Touring

1920 Oldsmobile Touring, reverse rotation straight-six, one of many cars purchased from the Windmeyer Collection in the 1950’s and stored ever since.

There isn’t much interior left in any of these, aside from the Linc., but given the history, there’s the possibility some are original.

Sullivan: John Simmons estate, Hamilton, Illinois, June 10-12.

This will be a sit-down style, catalogued, no reserve auction of hundreds of vintage signs, several dozen gas pump globes and several dozen visible and electric gas pumps. Also selling will be several antique cars and related items.

Nixon: Wilson Dainton Estate and Larry Fisher, Broken Bow, Nebraska, May 30.

Mr. Dainton collected vehicles and parts for many years. Due to his passing his family has decided to offer his collection at absolute public auction. Mr. Dainton always kept all the parts stored inside. If you are in the process of restoring an older vehicle this is an auction you won’t want to miss. Mr. Larry Fisher, a friend and neighbor of the Dainton family has an excellent collection of Allis Chalmers tractors, threshing machines and equipment and has decided to offer his collection at auction.

This is a little one, with a handful of restoration candidates, but Girard also has a larger annual car auction in Wakonda on June 26-27th. Both sales are heavy on cool trucks.

Rowley: Harold W. Schneider Estate, Inlay City, Michigan, May 23

Rowley’s Auction Service will be liquidating the Estate of Harold W. Schneider, a lifelong collector of classic motor scooters, antique mopeds, parts and many more scooter related items!

We, and now everyone else in the world, are hot on scooters these days, so I’d expect a heavy turnout. Rowley didn’t provide captions and didn’t yet have a full listing up, so in-person bidding is a must. You could probably bring out a pickup, load it up and recoup your investment with some careful bidding.

Rowley: Bob Zimmerman Estate, Fostoria, Michigan, May 30.

Chris Zimmerman has hired Rowley’s Auction Service to liquidate her late husband Bob Zimmerman’s large collection of classic autos and rare military vehicles, petroleum items, auto parts, and antiques. Another unbelievable auction from the Zimmerman collection! Lifelong collectors for over 50 years.

Militaria collectors will have to fill in their own blanks, as well.

Kiko: Quality One Owner Collection, Salesville, Ohio, June 6.

Kiko doesn’t say this is an estate and it may not be, but it has all the hallmarks thereof. These are clearly well-kept cars, and a lot of them, along with several restored tractors. The auction notes show many are undriven since restoration, but many are on battery tenders and they all look ready to go. This is a serious auction, just posted too late for print.
