The Great Race is a 22,000 mile race that stretches from New York to Paris with origins going back to the first race in 2008. One of the entrants in this years historic race will be a 1967 Austin Martin DB6 that has been converted to operate on E85 fuel. The car will be entered into the Innovation Class of cars involved in the Great Race and will have its progress and performance watched closely by Bradley University’s Department of Engineering.
Alternative fuels are not new to Auston Martin as their DBRS9 ethanol fueled race team is a British GT championship winner. So as the DRBS9 has provided countless data for ethanol fueled race engines the 1967 DB6 should provide a critical data on long term, longevity of ethanol engines in all types of terrain and conditions.
